How to handle weight

Skill rounds first, power later. If the jab disappears, the round is over even if the timer is not. Heavier bag ≠ better — clean contact does.

Usual programming

6 × 2 min on / 1 min off. Rounds 1–2 technique, 3–4 combos, 5–6 controlled power.

Caution

Wraps on. Hands up before power. Do not thrash a bag with a bent wrist. Space around the bag — this studio is shared. Breath through the nose when you can.

Setup

Wraps on, stance, guard up, bag at chest-to-head height. Jab to find range before you throw power.

Cues

  • Hands back to the face after every shot
  • Wrist straight on impact
  • Breathe out on the punch
  • Feet move, they don’t plant and flail

Common mistakes

  • Thrashing with a bent wrist
  • Dropping the hands to generate power
  • Hooking off-balance
  • No jab, only haymakers

Home swap

Shadow boxing, or pillow/backpack punches if you must
